Abstract

Down Syndrome paediatric patient care at three Durban hospitals were compared to American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations and that practiced by a Thailand hospital. 72 current patients were assessed via retrospective chart analysis and observations of routine clinical care using frequencies of screening tests and genetic counseling services as comparative measures. Thyroid function and antenatal counseling were conducted inconsistently. Subsequently, recommendations for efficient patient care were devised.
